Memories
28th November 2007

Spent the evening with my wife's grandmother (aged 92) who has the most fantastic and interesting memories of her life. Could sit and listen to her all night!  Have now expanded my family tree to include the information I have gathered from her this evening.

It was interesting looking at an old school photograph of hers to see the twinkle in her eye when she talked of her first love, Jack Tyrer, whose parents had a shop in Bickershaw.  If you are out there Jack let me know or if you know of him please get in touch.

Census Info
26th November 2007

Whilst I have been researching I have downloaded quite a few census with the Fishwick name which don't seem to have any relevance to my tree.  If they can be of any use to you, let me know.  I am quite happy to search through them for information which may help you.  Have also located some graves in Wigan Cemetery and Parbold Parish Church which don't seem to be connected but I have retained the info.  Let me know if it could help you!

New to blogging
25th November 2007

I have never done a blog before!!

I decided to research my family tree and was contacted (via genesreunited) by the great grand-daughter of my grandfather's brother.

Since then I have found out about my ancestors going back to 1816.  Been to the history shop, Wigan Cemetery and Parbold Cemetery and seem to spend every waking minute on the net researching.  This site has proved to be sooooo useful and has really inspired me to find out more.

Seems my ancestors lived in and around the Wigan Lane area of Swinley - places like Coppull Lane, Graysons Yard and Golden Cross Yard.  My grandfather Joseph Fishwick was one of seven children to John Thomas and Jane Fishwick who married at St georges Church in 1882.

I would love to hear from anyone who can help and who thinks they may have a link to the Fishwicks of Wigan.
