I'm pretty chuffed about the fact I got a photo exlusive on the recent stolen bus incident. This time round it actually was an exclusive, as far as I can gather - that's right, I reported it on my blog a whole twelve hours before the papers.

Take that, mainstream media! :D

Attention Hindley residents! I have concocted the perfect plan to avoid the roadworks occurring this week. Simply avoid Hindley altogether! Simple but effective.

My first attempt at freelance reporting was scuppered somewhat when I found that my article on the Hindley Town Hall chimney tree was not in fact an exclusive. Turns out the Lancashire Evening Post beat me to it by a whole two weeks.

Oh well, at least I got one or two exclusive pictures... complete with vision-obstructing scaffolding. Still, at least we now know that work is underway before the whole building collapses under the weight of a small piece of vegetation.

You may or may not have heard of Reddit, a site where people submit their links to articles for other people to read, comment and vote on. It's quite snazzy, really.

I am here to inform the Wigan blogosphere that I have created a Reddit Wigan category to which I intend to submit (mostly humorous) links regarding Wigan life. Greetings fellow Wiganers. I come to you live from Hindley, the very centre of Wigan culture, a hub of activity that people come from far and wide to sample, to taste the atmosphere of the place.

Or not.

I feel I must introduce myself. My name is Dan, but on weekends my name is Chicken McNugget. I go by the hinternet alias of Hindleyite or, as is the case here, Hindleyak. Don't bother asking how that came into being: much like many nicknames, it just evolved into its current form.

I intend to use this blog to inform the Wigan public of stuff they really ought to know about, like how the George Formby statue in the Grand Arcade is really made out of chocolate, or how immigrants plan to smuggle vegetables into the North West (we will not have it, I'm telling you!).
