It's WPS Print Night!
27th November 2007

Monthly print competition at Wigan Photographic Society tonight.

I have three prints in - mounted at 20x16"

I'm happy with them - I think they're three good prints - but I don't think they'll get anywhere in the competition because there are fluffy baby seal photos about from a trip at the weekend. Good solid landscape and people shots don't really stand much of a chance against baby seals or cute likkle Robins - etc etc etc LOL!

But - you never know!

Monday Morning - Woooooo
26th November 2007

Oh GOODY! It's Monday Morning!

Pour me a gallon of raw caffeine and chuck me out the door!

My new website is coming along nicely (See last blog entry) with lots of new piccies added, navigation bar added, guestbook added (hint hint)

I went back though a photoshoot I did in Wales last year - photographing Red Kites and Buzzards. Last time I edited the set I ended up with 72 photos I was happy with. I did them again from the originals and this time there are only 13 I'm happy with. I must have raised my standards!

Onward and upward!

I owe  - I owe - It's off to work I go...

New website in the making
25th November 2007

Sun's gone on holiday

After a stunning Friday with clear blue skies - we get a grey overcast weekend with no light.

*Sigh

I've spent some time this weekend working on my new website. Once it's populated with more photos it will replace my long out of date OyPhotos.co.uk site. I'll point the old site name at the new site then.

I'm working backwards - putting my recent stuff on the new site first. Have a shufftie...

Off She Goes!
21st November 2007

My Gran's funeral today - and what a lovely service at St James' in Haydock.

I'm not a believer - at all - but that was a great send-off. Done with feeling, love, compassion and humour. 10/10!

92 years - that's a long time! And we'll miss her - R.I.P. Granny.

Mordor in Wigan
18th November 2007

The Dark Lord Cometh!

Is it me? Or has it not actually become daylight this weekend?

Some photos to take for work later this evening at Edge Hall Road, Orrell. Other than that - my camera's not been out of the bag!

I'll leave you with this little tale...

After a lovely meal at a friend's house, his Wife remarked "You know, these photographs you've taken really are superb. You must have a really good camera!"

"Thanks" I replied... "That was a really nice meal you just gave us. You must have some really good pans."

Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
15th November 2007

By 'eck it's cowd!

Going to work - it's dark.

Coming home from work - it's dark.

I feel nocturnal at this time of year.

Car's sat on the drive (locked) with engine runnung, heater on, heated mirrors and seats on. Not getting in it until it's all toasty and warm

Good clear weather for early morning photos though - lets just hope it stays that way until weekend!

A sad loss
12th November 2007

My Grandma died this morning.

She was taken ill on Friday wth a hear problem - and at 92 it ws never very likely she'd recover.

R.I.P. Granny

I took a walk down the canal at Gathurst just after I found out to clear my head and ponder the meaning of life etc. It was a lovely crisp and fresh November morning, very serene and still, seemd fitting for the mood.

Of course being me I took photos - here are a selection.

Wet and Windy in Leigh

I spent a couple of hours at Pennington Flash in Leigh this afternoon.

Wet, windy and very poor light for photography. Still - we must try - and try I did.

Hope you're all safe!
5th November 2007

Bonfire night - always a time of mixed emotions.

Important tradition or needless risk?

I had a drive around tonight and on a 6 mile round trip I saw 7 emergency services vehicles with blue lights flashing!

I hope you all had fun and kept safe.

Two photos I took tonight.

It's that Autumn Trees photo time again!

Back of my Hols
3rd November 2007

What a superb week in St Ives!

We're just back from a lovely week in Cornwall. The weather was good - and very mild for the time of year. The kids were in the sea nearly every day bodyboarding.

I'll get around to uploading a LOT of photos but in the meantime here are a few samples taken in St Ives:
