Church Tower
26th October 2008

View from Wigan Parish Church TowerIt's been 4 years since I last went up onto the tower of Wigan Parish Church.

Many thanks to Ken Talbot, Verger, for kindly allowing me to re-visit.

In that 4 years quite a bit has changed including the building of the Grand Arcade and the ongoing redevelopment of the Wigan Pier Quarter.

I have added a new gallery containing 54 large photos. If anyone wants an original photo (much bigger resolution than on the site) please email me.

View the gallery.

Album help
15th October 2008

I'm taken aback with how well the wiganworld album is progressing, we have passed the 7,000 mark which is amazing as it wasn't long ago that I was appealing for help to reach 5,000. Thank you to all that have contributed.

It's unfortunate that I'm having to delete a lot of photos because of quality / size issues and also people having trouble uploading. The album would probably be 8,000+ now if I hadn't deleted so many.

I have added a help page.

If you have uploaded a photo and it didn't appear or if you are struggling uploading, please read the help page, thanks.

Webcam
11th October 2008

wiganworld webcamA new webcam has been set up looking towards the Orwell and Trencherfield Mill at Wigan Pier.

It is updated every minute, there is no need to refresh the page, it will re-load the photo automatically.

The picture isn't brilliant in the dark but it will still take photos every minute, 24 hours a day.

Looking at it as I type this, it's wet!

Good news
2nd October 2008

The Wigan CourierI've been busy lately trying to expand and secure the future of the wiganworld website.

And it's good news.

The Wigan Courier newspaper and wiganworld have teamed together.

The Wigan Courier is a free independent tabloid newspaper with a current circulation of 32,000 copies per issue distributed throughout the Wigan area. It is filled with good, local news.

Exciting times lay ahead, not only will this mean more local content but it will also secure the future of the site for many years to come.

There are lots of things lined up to make wiganworld bigger and better than ever.

Coming soon will be another new gallery titled 'Wiganers at Work'. A place to upload recent photos of your workmates and places of work.
