Parkside
15th February 2009

ParksideFred Foster has written another book.

This one is about his recollections of Parkside Colliery from 1959 to 1989 and makes for more interesting reading.

Graham Carr has also been uploading some excellent and unique photos of Parkside recently.

The photos are in the album, under work, then Parkside Colliery.

Thanks Graham and Fred.

Update
11th February 2009

Still working behind the scenes to bring more improvements...

In the meantime, I've added another local link for any budding authors out there to get their work in print, take a look at Towpath Press.

I've re-vamped the Leeds & Liverpool Canal website where you can also leave comments on any of the 1,700+ photos.

As part of the News section update I plan on allowing trusted partners to add news as and when.

'In Court' is imminent.

Finally, the Wigan Directory is about to be re-written. The new site will be much better, allowing anyone to add their business for any time frame. Not only businesses can be promoted but special events, websites etc etc. The cost for an ad will be cheaper, from just a tenner a year, which equates to between 2 and 3 pence per day.

Work
5th February 2009

It feels like I haven't written for a while...

I have been extremely busy both at work and at home. My PC problems didn't help and I've lost too many emails, 1,000s of 'em. Everything I tried to recover them failed and I've given up trying - they have definitely gone.

Anyway... I'm on the Mac now which I'm getting used to and am thoroughly enjoying.

So, what's on the way?

  • More photos for the album, I have a few here to scan for a local lady which I will add on her behalf.
  • In Court - remember that? It's coming back.
  • Better news layout and images.
  • Album improvements to 'watch' photos.

More soon...
