"Inside Wigan" is a new gallery section where photographs of well known buildings and places will be published.

I start with the jewel in Wigan's crown, Haigh Hall.

Everyone knows Haigh Hall, in fact most locals (and not so local) visit. The most disappointing thing about the place is that you can't go in and have a look around.

I've made some improvements to the Memories section as promised, namely:

• Paging. 50 memories per page displayed.
• Most recent memories now displayed first (rather than at the end).
• Future posts will have a date against them.

More updates are planned soon, especially on the 1st June which is wiganworld's 7th birthday. I aim to have 7 updates for this special day (time permitting).

wiganworld was launched in June, 2001. Seven (yes, 7) years ago.

In internet terms, this is about 50yrs old!

Has a week passed since I last posted? Where does the time go?

I've been busy updating historyworld and we've done another walk down along the Leeds and Liverpool Canal, with more walks planned soon.

Will add more links to wiganworld soon and get rid of the defunct ones. I'm also in touch with a couple of new contacts to publish some interesting stuff from years gone by.

I've been inundated with material lately, thanks to all that have contributed.

Some local businesses have been added to the Wigan Directory, please show your support and take a look at the listings, thanks.

A new statue of Fred Dibnah has been unveiled in Bolton on Tuesday. Tony Haslam has kindly sent in some photos.

Also, some more local poetry has been added to wiganworld by Sue Ward.

Finally, I have more updates lined up and a couple of new links to add. Watch this space.
