Update
28th August 2008

wiganworldTime for an update as I haven't wrote for a while.

Still got things in the pipeline, including photos to add to the site.

Am busy behind the scenes trying to strike a deal that will benefit wiganworld in the way of more content and to secure the site further for the future. This is quite exciting (for me, anyroad) and I hope to report more soon.

Also been busy (as usual, yawn!) with other websites including our walk down the Leeds & Liverpool Canal. We will have this completed very soon, only another 9 miles on the Yorkshire side to go, leaving Burscough to Liverpool to complete the 127 mile stretch!

I'll update again soon.

Cemetery index

Cemetery indecVolume 3 of the cemetery index covering 21st February, 1853 to 11th June, 1880 has been updated.

Freda Chorlton has since added the religions and grave numbers to each record, around 9,100 of them.

Thanks again for all your hard work Freda.

10 days
13th August 2008

Can't believe 10 days have passed since I wrote anything!

I'm not losing interest in the site and will be updating again soon. If truth be known, I have been catching up with things since my holiday - there are a few updates in the pipeline including more updates to the cemetery index thanks to Freda Chorlton, photos of the Maypole Exhibition at Abram Church thanks to Ron Hunt and photos of the latest archaeological dig at Millgate.

The messageboards will also be returning soon.

WOW Festival
3rd August 2008

Wigan One World FestivalThe Wigan One World Multicultural Festival took place today in Mesnes Park.

In its 6th year, the festival had lots of local and international performers and artists to celebrate Wigan Borough's rich mix of culture and traditions.

It was a great day, all credit to Wigan Leisure and Culture Trust and the performers for the best 'WOW' yet.

View the WOW Festival photos.
